29. Bright Idea: Public Slides (for adults, too!) November 9, 2006

Escalators and stairs are so pedestrian (grin). Check out these slides at the Tate Modern in London. Yes, it is an art exhibit, but hopefully, these will become more common place (like in malls). People can choose to slide themselves, or enjoy watching others slide. Apparently, there are long lines of people waiting to go down these things, and you even need tickets. French writer Roger Caillois calls the slide experience a “voluptuous panic upon an otherwise lucid mind.”
