Moonlight can provide a significant amount of illumination, depending on the particular phase. The Civil Twilight Design Collective proposes this Bright IdeaSpark: streetlights that detect the amount of moonlight present, and then dim themselves accordingly. This concept, along with using LEDs, will be 90% more energy efficient than regular streetlights. The CTDC website here; via SciFiTech.

Great idea, any cities already doing this?
Shawn: I think it is just in an idea stage at this point. But hopefully, soon, lots of cities will have these.
