Who knew that nesting plastic cups at break-neck speeds would be an international phenomenon?

They were introduced by Bob Fox, a former phys-ed teacher and amateur juggler, in his Denver school in 1990 after seeing it on The Tonight Show. Started in his basement, Speed Stacks now employs 19 and expects to do $4 million in sales this year. 12,000 schools and youth groups participate in sport stacking (source). Bill Fox’s daughter, Emily, 14, is a record holder (see a clip of her below).

Ooooh-kaeey. Yeah, I could easily do that with a little practice. Me a 32 year-old, big, strong man. I could defeat that puny 14 year-old girl’s record. (Um…maybe if a had a time-warping device).

Check out the Speed Stack site here.
