116. Sparked Art: Ned Kahn’s Sculpture January 1, 2007

Posted by Matt Fleming, PsyD in Art.

A couple of days ago, I saw a couple of zen-like and organic pieces of art by the brilliant Ned Kahn, at the awesome 21C Museum Hotel.

The first was the large Cloud Rings (watch the 1-minute video HERE). These clips are silent, so I recommend some background music as you watch (click play in the Sonific widget in the right margin):

The second was a coffee table containing the ever-changing sand and wind sculpture, similar to this: Click HERE, then scroll down to the “Aeolian Lanscape” Video.

If you are interested in more, I picked out the best pieces from his portofolio for you to see. Click on to see more…

Ned Kahn’s website does not allow links to specific videos, so we will have to do this old school:

Click on FOG, and check out “Tornado.” If you are impatient, like I am, click to 1/3rd into the clip.

Click on WATER, and check out the “Turbulent Orb” video.

Click on WIND, and check out the “Articulate Cloud” video.

Click on SAND, and check out the “Subducted Landscapes,” “Magnetic Stone,” and “Sonic Range” videos.
