205. Bright Idea: Rolling Bridge March 8, 2007

This Rolling Bridge is found on Britain’s Grand Union Canal.  It is over 12 yards long, and is made to curl by hydraulic rams set into the handrail between each section.

It has a scheduled curling once a week (so you can plan to see it in action), and probably opens to let boats pass when needed.  Designed by Heatherwick Studios (via TrendHunter.com).
