523. Bright Idea: Non-stick Gum September 17, 2007

HumBugg: when you get gum on your shoe, pants, hair, and in your nose; and when it pock-marks public streets. The photo above shows one attempt at a solution: specialized disposal areas (i.e. trash receptacles).

Another solution: gum that dissolves in water (but not saliva). Invented by a British chemist, this gum is made out of a low-cost polymer that does not affect the taste or texture of regular gum. Maybe it will be legal in Singapore. Due out next year; via Gizmodo.
